Happy Feast of the weeks. The law - "Instruction" does not specifically mention a motive for the celebration of Shavuot's feast.
The name means "weeks" (Deut 16: 10). The reason for the name is that the party always happens seven weeks (or Postages be, on the fiftieth day) after the Passover.
In Portuguese, it is common that this party receives the name of "pentecostes", word of Greek origin (50º day) that refers to the number fifty. The date of the feast of Shavuot is calculated by counting these fifty days, a from the Chag Bikurim in fulfillment of Leviticus 23: 15 and 16. The count is called sefirat ha-omer (counting of the homer). Omer (literally: beam) is the name of a measure, and the reference is to a quantity of barley to be offered after Passover (Leviticus 23: 10-11).
In Numbers 28: 26, Shavuot is called Yom habikurim "(day of the first fruits). Another name for this party is "atzêret", which means "interruption" or "conclusion."
In Jewish tradition, the festival receives motifs and names such as "Feast of Harvest" and "Time of Instruction" - the day on which the law was received at Sinai in the third month. Therefore, traditionally, Shavuot celebrates the anniversary of the delivery of the Instruction! Delivery of the Instruction (torah) Law of the 10 Commandments!
In Acts 2 - On this same day, the 9th of the third month of the year 31 - fulfilling the symbol of the early rain, and the beginning of the Good News preaching of the coming of the Mashyah, another extraordinary manifestation occurred in fulfillment of the Savior's promise. The talmidim of Yahshuah received the pouring of Rukha Hakadosh!
It was also commonly called Pentecost Greek word equivalent to 50 (50th), instead of the entire seven weeks, as in the Gregorian calendar the weeks are sequential, many people including the Jews count days running without regard to rosch chodesh-a The new moon that is the head of the month, along with the 30th day that complete exactly the lunations, are not part of the count of WHOLE WEEKS. This detail is very important! In Lev. 23:12 And 15 says,
"On the day you move the sheaf .... You will count for yourselves from the day you bring the sheaf of the wave offering, SEVEN WEEKS WHOLE WILL BE"
IMPORTANT:
It is impossible to determine the correct date if it is not counted from the new moon of the first month after the spring equinox (in the northern hemisphere - autumn of the southern hemisphere)
Once again we see in a wonderful way the two Sun and Moon stars - placed in the fourth day of Creation (Gen.1: 14) marking as a "OT" - a visible sign of the sacred times of Yahweh.
The descent of the Rukha kadosh on the Talmidim on the day of Shavuot
1 And when the count for the moed of Shavuot was completed by the omer ("the period of the ommer-marks the complexion of the whole seven weeks between Passover and Shavuot-Devarym (Deut- 23:15) they were all in one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly a sound came from the shamaym (heavens), as from the roaring of Rukha Hakadosh, and filled the whole House where they were seated.
3 And there they appeared divided among them, tongues like fire, and rested on each one of them. 4 And they were all filled with Rukha Kadosh, and began to speak in other tongues, as Rukha Hakadosh gave them the pronunciation.
